Miss America Organization Kicks Out 4 States After Disagreements

The Miss America Organization is getting even.

After a pageant-wide revolt against the organization’s leaders, the organization has decided to fire back with letters of termination and suspension. Pennsylvania, Georgia, West Virginia, and another unknown state are amongst the states that have had their licenses revoked. The four states will no longer be able to claim affiliation with the Miss America Organization, and will have to hand over bank accounts that contain scholarship money.

Along with the terminations, the organization issued 15 letters of probation, and will require the 15 states to write a letter explaining their actions before reinstatement.

Sources say the conflict started because state officials didn’t approve of how Regina Hopper, CEO, and Gretchen Carlson, former FOX News anchor, ran things. There were a lot of changes, following the removal of the swimsuit competition.

This year’s pageant winner, Cara Mund, said Carlson and Hooper “marginalized and bullied” her. Carlson and Hooper responded the opposition by calling it a “noisy minority.”

Eventually, the four terminated states can rejoin. They must, first, request an appeal.

Until then, they’ve been shunned.
