What a Dumbass Idea: Michigan School Buys Hockey Pucks to Fight Off Active School-Shooters

School shootings have become a normalcy in America, and rather than create stricter gun laws, the best solution we’ve come up with is hockey pucks.

    Yup…hockey pucks!

Oakland University, in Michigan, decided to invest the school’s money to buy 2,500 heavy black pucks. According to the Detroit Free Pass reports, 800 of the pucks will be given to faculty members, and 1,700 will be distributed to students.

Oakland University Police Chief, Mark Gordon, is responsible for the bright idea. It was a “spur-of-the-moment idea that seemed to have some merit to it, and it kind of caught on,” Gordon said.

The university has a no-weapons policy, and perhaps the pucks are the only other alternative to keep the campus, and those that inhabit it safe. After the Parkland school shooting, which left 17 dead, Oakland University has been trying to beef up security. They’re currently trying to raise money to install locks that can be placed on the inside of their classroom doors. So far they’ve raised $5,000– donated by the faculty union.

Gordon hopes that in the event of a active school shooting, the pucks can be thrown at the target, resulting in a distraction long enough to disarm the shooter.
