Michelle Obama is smashing book records around the world.
The former first lady of the United States has just been told that her book, “Becoming,” is set to top charts. “Becoming” is a memoir, and apparently it’s doing quite well on the shelves. According to Bertelsmann’s Penguin Random House division, she already sold over 10 million copies. That’s a lot of books sold, especially for a publishing company, which has been around for more than 100 years.
If Obama’s book continues to sell at its current pace, it will be well on its way to becoming one of the best-selling memoirs of all time, according to CBS News.
The book follows MO’s life of growing up in the Southside of Chicago, all the way up until the most recent chapter of her life– the part where she no longer serves as FLOTUS.
Now that Obama is on a book tour, “Becoming” continues to gain popularity.
”We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” said Thomas Rabe, the executive of Bertelsmann, on Tuesday.
The book was first released in November of 2018. Currently, it is also a top-seller in places like Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Greece, and the United Kingdom.
