Michael Jordan is a walking money tree off and he wants to make sure the people of the Bahamas see some of that green.
After a devastating category 5 hurricane, hurricane Dorian slammed the island, Michael Jordan is helping bring back some of those island smiles. The retired basketball player is donating $1 million to the Bahamas’ hurricane relief.
In wake of seeing all of the damage done, MK says it wouldn’t be right to just sit back and watch. MJ has spent a considerable amount of time on the island, as well as has a lot of property there.
“I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently.”
“My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones.”
The $1 million that Michael will be donating does not have a specific home just yet. He and his rep are still seeking out non-profit agencies that are suitable for the large donation, reports TMZ.
Hurricane Dorian struck the country last week. As of Monday, the death toll has climbed to 50 people, with the death toll expected to rise even more. Rescuers are still searching for more people, hopefully, more alive than dead.
Michael sends the Bahamas his good wishes.
“The Bahamian people are strong and resilient and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm.”
