Michael Jackson’s estate is going through hell.
After trying to discredit the Leaving Neverland documentary, their job just got increasingly harder to do. Leaving Neverland took home a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special over the weekend. The award ceremony was hosted at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
It was an uproar over who should have really took home the prize. Some debate that it should have been Beyonce Knowles for her incredible Homecoming documentary– and if you’ve seen it, it’s hard to negate.
And we’re sure Michael Jackson’s estate would have loved to see Beyonce take home the prize instead too….even if they aren’t big fans. They still believe the documentary about the King of Pop is a huge pile of lies.
After the award was accepted, MJ’s estate released a message, reports Page Six.
“For a film that is a complete fiction to be honored in a nonfiction Emmy category is a complete farce.”
They continue.
“Not one shred of proof supports this completely one-sided, so-called documentary which was made in secrecy and for which not one person outside of the two subjects and their families were interviewed.”
Apparently this is a feud that will not die quickly.
MJ’s state claims the documentary works harder to destroy Michael’s reputation more than it works to be truthful. However, James Safechuck and Wade Robson claim the stories told are in fact factual AF.
Sadly, we will never know the truth. Michael Jackson died in 2009.
Any thoughts? Do you think Leaving Neverland deserved an Emmy award? Who would you have liked to see take it home instead? In short, et us know what’s on your mind by leaving a comment in the comment section below.
