Bad news for Steve Harvey…
The comedian turned television host will no longer be chatting it up with the world’s most talented little humans on Little Big Shots. Harvey is being replaced as the host by comedian and actress Melissa McCarthy. The news broke recently, just shortly after news of Harvey’s other show, Steve, being reportedly canceled by NBC.
McCarthy, 48, will be joining the show when it starts back up next season. Though Harvey was the original host of the show, NBC’s co-chairman of entertainment Paul Telegdy is excited for a step in a new direction. In a statement, he added that “Melissa’s just an incredible performer and incredible comedian.” He also thinks she “will bring a completely fresh perspective to it.”
On the other hand, Harvey is a little disappointed in the sudden news. On top of Steve being canceled, he had no idea plans to replace him had been finalized.
Here’s what he had to say in response to the Network’s decision:
“I’m an honorable guy and I’m just an old school guy and I just thought that you’re supposed to talk to people and go, ‘Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing. Are you okay with that?’ No, you don’t just put something in the paper and say, ‘I’m gonna make this move right here’ because it’s crazy,”
In the meantime, Harvey still has at least one job left. He’s still the host of Family Feud.
