Megyn Kelly Makes Blackface Comment and Walks Away with $30 Million

After making a comment about blackface, some might say Kelly was rewarded rather than punished.

During an episode on the Megyn Kelly Today show, Kelly and guests discussed the issue of wearing blackface on Halloween. While her guests were clearly against the costume idea, Kelly showed differing views. The NBC host thought it was no big deal.

“But what is racist? You truly do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween,”  she said.  “Back when I was a kid, that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as like a character.”

After her comment, she was quickly met with backlash from the public. The backlash ultimately caused Kelly’s career as a host to crumble.

On top of her show being cancelled, HotNewHipHop has learned that she has also been fired. However, there’s a silver lining in all of this.

Megyn Kelly was paid $30 million. Reportedly, two years ago, Kelly signed a $69 million deal with NBC. The $30 million is the remainder of what her contract promised.

Thoughts? Is wearing blackface on Halloween unacceptable? Should Megyn Kelly have received a stricter punishment? Share your thoughts below.
