Maggie Rogers may look like a sweet little white girl, but don’t judge a book by its Cover
Singer/Songwriter Maggie Rogers was in Austin getting ready to perform but had to pause to put a fan in their Place. While at the moody theater one concert-goer thought it would be cool to interrupt Rogers to make a request. The fan shouted “free your nips” and after a short pause. The singer replied back telling the fan to “shut the F**k up.”
The singer was giving an sentimental speech to her fans about her hit Alaska. The song that made her famous in a now-viral video with Pharrell Williams. At the time of the video, Rogers was a student at NYU who wrote the song as apart of her class. Once the video went viral things quickly change for the Maryland Native. She would go on to sign with capitol records and has been growing ever since.
She seems to really be getting more comfortable with being on stage because a novice might have frozen up. Instead, Maggie showed the stage presence of a seasoned vet and put the heckler right in their place. She would go on with her story emphasizing the appreciation she has for fans.
Rogers took to Instagram to further explain the events that took place in Austin and express her hurt. She shared that she takes her time on stage very seriously. Also stating she is normally supported by her “community”. She ended her statement by warning fans that such behavior will not be tolerated at her shows. Encouraging fans to“Be kind to each other out there.”
So to be clear, Maggie Rogers ain’t with the shit.
What do you guys think was Maggie right or wrong for putting the fan in their place?
