Louisiana Black Churches Raise Millions After Notre Dame Cathedral Burns

Washington post

While President Donald Trump and others are pitching in the help rebuild the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, others are investing their money into churches on American soil.

Just recently, three historically black churches burned down in Louisiana. The names of the churches are St. Mary Baptist Church, Greater Union Baptist Church, and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. All three were targets of 21-year-old Holden Matthews, the son of a deputy sheriff. He has since been charged with three counts of arson of a religious building, and three counts of hate crimes. He’s pleading guilty to all.

But a look on the bright side shows that people are reaching down deep in their pockets to help restore what Matthews single-handedly destroyed. CBS News reports that a GoFundMe account has been set up to help raise money to rebuild the predominantly black churches. The account has allegedly shot from $159,000 to a massive $1.8 million.

Celebrities that helped reach that number are Mandy Moore, Seth Meyers, and Megyn Kelly,

Thoughts? Do you think taking care of three black churches in Louisiana is more important than the Notre Dame Cathedral? Leave a comment.
