HYPEFRESH: Let’s start by introducing ourselves. You know the basics, like name, age, and where you’re from, as much or little as you’re comfortable sharing.
Michelle Ray: Hi! My name is Michelle Ray, and I’m originally from Long Island, NY, but a proud implant currently living in Los Angeles!
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “run to”?
Michelle Ray: I’ve been in many past relationships where I felt like I was losing myself by giving my all to the other person and not receiving the same love back. I was there to build them up and had to be their rock consistently, and I wasn’t getting it back. It was exhausting. “run to” is a blast of empowering energy and hard realization, best appreciated by shouting the lyrics with friends in the car, with windows down, or equally by yourself in your room with the door closed!
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
Michelle Ray: One of my favorite things about being a music artist is doing what I love daily. I get to collaborate and work with incredible talent on a regular. I get to be in therapy sessions, aka writing sessions and create art from our experiences, and there’s nothing more remarkable.
