New York singer-songwriter, visual artist, and art curator Yaya Bey has been described by Pitchfork as an artist who “…makes R&B that is at once grandiose and vulnerable, folding in feminist protest songs, glittering self-love anthems, and devastating accounts of heartache and longing.” Bey is both a poet and musician, creating songs to invoke the revolution and convey the human experience. Her debut EP, ‘The Many alter-egos of Trill’etta Brown‘ released in early 2018, was met with critical praise from Solange’s Saint Heron, The FADER, Essence, and more. Now gearing up for her next project, ‘this too…‘ set to release in November, Bey is ready to reveal a cut from the project with new single titled “Mine.”
Written by Yaya Bey, and co-produced by Bey and Ajene Harley, “Mine” is a slow-burning R&B stunner that emphasizes Yaya Bey’s poetic prowess as a singer-songwriter. A stripped back instrumental featuring electric guitar strums and a drum kit, “Mine” allows Bey’s emotive vocals to shine on the soul resonating two-minute single. Dropping via Bey’s ‘this too…’ album on Nublack Music Group, stay tuned for additional details on the album release and live dates soon to come.
