    Lil Wayne Mourns Death Of Officer Who Saved His Life

    Lil Wayne mourns Louisiana police officer who saved his his life as a 12-year-old kid. Sadly, Robert Hoobler, a former New Orleans police officer died in his home in Jefferson Parish at 65 on July 22. There are no details about his death yet. According to Yahoo! Sports, Hoobler’s grandson, Daniel Nelson, reports Hoobler to have had ongoing health issues stemming from a car wreck and diabetes. Diabetes contributed to Hoobler’s leg amputations.

    There is a unique story behind the relationship between Wayne and Hoobler. The dynamic connection would last until Hoobler’s untimely death.

    To recap, Weezy would make his attempt at suicide at the age of 12 after finding a gun in his childhood home. Lil Wayne shot himself in the chest then called in 911. An off-duty officer would show up due to the stall of sending ambulances. “Uncle Bob” drove Wayne in his own vehicle to the hospital where the future rapper would ultimately survive, according to XXL.

    Wayne later bumped into Hoobler at a concert, offering him financial help. Robert would decline the offer; however, the two spoke about administrative endeavors for Hoobler.
