L.A. Lakers SG Patrick Beverly Crowned Dirtiest Player in the NBA

Los Angeles Lakers SG Patrick Beverly finds himself in the middle of another altercation. During the Phoenix Suns game, Beverly excessively pushed Suns C DeAndre Ayton in the back after it appeared he attempted to stand over one of Beverly’s teammates. While many would agree he was trying to be a good teammate, this still is uncalled for in the game of basketball. As a result, Beverly has been suspended three games, according to Bleacher Report.

This suspension seems reasonable based on what was jeopardized and the possibility of several individuals getting hurt, including the fans. However, the issue doesn’t come with just this isolated incident. Beverly has had a troubled past throughout his journey in the NBA and has been known to do this prior.

In fact, one of the biggest moments in his career came years ago when he pushed Suns PG Chris Paul in the back as well. It’s safe to say, that the Phoenix Suns and Patrick Beverly don’t necessarily get along much.

Thursday night, the NBA released a statement on behalf of Beverly’s actions and condemned them going forward.

“The suspension was based in part on Beverley’s history of unsportsmanlike acts,” the NBA said in a news release Thursday night.

Los Angeles Lakers HC Darvin Ham expressed similar thoughts after the game. However, he appeared to have more understanding and tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

“At the end of the day, I’m not mad at him. He’s there protecting his teammate,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said after the game. “I’m sure he’ll probably go through some type of consequence for that. But at the end of the day that’s who we have to be, is Lakers. We’ve got to be together.”
