Kerry Washington receives backlash for comment, assuming that DMX and Prince Phillip will cross paths in the afterlife. It appears to be unsympathetic after both notable men’s recent deaths.
“Anybody else wondering what DMX and His Royal Highness Prince Philip are chatting about together at the pearly gates?” she wrote in a since deleted tweet. “My love to both their families. May they both Rest in Peace.”
DMX’s Family Releases Statement
A statement released by DMX’s family on Friday read, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.”
“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized,” the statement said.
The Royal Family Responds To Prince Phillip’s Death
Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s death at age 99, the palace released a statement:
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” reported by People. The statement continued, “The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
Kerry Washington has since deleted the referenced tweet. More importantly, prayers up to both families.
