Kerry Washington Comments on Ad Week’s cover of her being “retouched”

Retouching is something many celebrities are familiar with and pretty much use to. However, the famous scandal star Kerry Washington, felt this one went a little too far.

In an Instagram post featuring the cover photo, she opens us about how she feels about the edited image, as well as being very thankful and for the experience and her love for the story, and the magazine itself. She started off with how much of a privilege it was to be invited by Ad Week Magazine to “grace their pages,” and how much she appreciates the publication. She puts emphasis on her following of them on twitter and how excited she was to do the cover. However, she had to be honest about how she felt of the “new” image of her cover photo.

“I have to be honest, I was taken aback by the cover. Look, I’m no stranger to Photoshopping. It happens a lot. In a way, we have become a society of picture adjusters – who doesn’t love a filter?!? And I don’t always take these adjustments to task but I have had the opportunity to address the impact of my altered image in the past and I think it’s a valuable conversation.”

Nevertheless she explains she is still excited about the article and the magazine. She ends she post encouraging people to still by the magazine.

“Grab this week’s Ad Week. Read it. I hope you enjoy it. And thank you for being patient with me while I figure out how to post this in a way that felt both celebratory and honest. XOXOXOX.”
