Some people just can’t take an April Fools Day joke…just ask Justin Bieber.
As usual, many people can’t wait to prank their friends and family when the notorious day comes each year. There are many styles of jokes that people like to play on one another, but perhaps the most popular one out of them all is the “I’m pregnant” prank. And it seems like that’s more Bieber’s style too.
Bieber and Hailey Bieber thought it would be funny to trick fans into thinking they were expecting their first child together, just months after saying their vows in a private ceremony. On Monday, Bieber uploaded a series of photos that suggested the two had one baking in the oven. One photo, in particular, was that of ultrasound.
However, because of the holiday, many of his fans did not quickly believe the singer was being truthful— instead, they called his bluff. It wasn’t until he uploaded another picture of his wife in an identical looking doctors office, receiving medical care, that people started to take the joke seriously.
Once Bieber got them where he wanted them he revealed it wasn’t true. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t get the laughs he was hoping for. Instead, people criticized him for making fun of a situation that some women struggle with.
One Twitter user wrote:
“Of course justin bieber will think a pregnancy announcement would be funny on April fools. esp so when 1 in 7 women have had a miscarriage. not to mention those suffering from infertility.”
Now the “Sorry” singer has actually had to issue an apology.
We bet next year, he’ll think twice about participating in the fun.
