It’s a case of he say she say…or he say he say.
Judge Mathis is accused of spitting on a valet driver after the valet driver apparently took too long to fetch his car. The incident happened on Friday evening outside of a Detroit soul food spot, Flood’s Bar and Grille, says Page Six.
Judge Mathis had a arrived in a 1999 Rolls-Royce, but when it came time to leave, the unidentified valet driver was nowhere to be found. But when he did finally appear, police reports state that Mathis and the valet driver got into an agitated argument. That’s when Mathis allegedly hawked one.
However, when police arrived, Mathis had already taken off.
“Preliminarily, we got a report that the victim was working valet parking at the time, when the suspect allegedly spit on him. Apparently, the suspect became upset over whether the victim had his car keys, so the suspect allegedly spit on him.”
Judge Mathis on the other hand, say’s that isn’t the truth. In his defense, he claims the valet driver acted irresponsibly and disappeared on the job to handle personal affairs.
“I yelled at him and asked why would he take my car for 40 minutes, or the keys to my car. He began to apologize, and then he said something I think [like], ‘I went to the store,’ or something that was more ridiculous than the apology. So we had a little verbal back-and-forth, and that was the extent of it. There was no spitting.”
“I don’t know whether this is a money grab, which I suspect it is. People get accused all the time and it’s not true.”
The valet driver says that the judge definitely spit on him, and that spit subsequently made it onto his shirt. Now, he plans to have his shirt submitted for a DNA test.
It’s only a matter of time before we figure out who’s telling the truth…
