Hide that money quick Jeff!
After 25 years of marriage, Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, decided to call it quits. The CEO of Amazon, a company once worth a staggering $1 TRILLION dollars at its peak, leaked the details of their divorce on Twitter. In their open letter they state:
“We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
According to TMZ, the pair met in New York during Jeff’s time as a Vice President for a hedge fund. They tied the knot in 1993, 6 months after they met, and moved on to greener pastures in Seattle, Washington–the city where Bezos created Amazon. However, MacKenzie’s not without her own accomplishments. A novelist who studied under Toni Morrison, she won an American Book Award in 2006 for “The Testing of Luther Albright.” Together they have four children between the age of 13 and 18.
The Bezos family possesses around 400,000 acres of property, making them two of the biggest landowners in the US. Looks like it’s gonna be a money parade for MacKenzie.
