21 Savage must really be a good chap, because all of his friends are swooping in to help him in his time of need.
Roc Nation, founded by Jay-Z, is throwing itself in the middle of things when it comes to getting the rapper released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Savage, who was arrested in Atlanta, on Sunday morning, is being detained by ICE, under the belief that he is not a legal U.S. citizen.
ICE made the arrest after discovering that 21’s true identity was actually She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph. And after entering the U.S. as a minor, plus having an expired visa since 2006, they want to deport him back to where he came from– the United Kingdom.
But not if Roc Nation can have anything to do with it. The entertainment company is trying to help the “A Lot” rapper stay in the country by hiring attorney Alex Spiro. Spiro argues that 21 Savage is a good man, who deserves to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Alex Spiro Quote:
“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge … What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
In the past, the hip-hop mogul, Jay-Z, has lent a helping hand to those facing legal troubles. If you recall, Hov played a vital role in getting a fellow rapper, Meek Mill, an early release from prison. And now that Savage has found himself in trouble as well, he can expect that Jay Z will have his back too.
Luckily for Jay-Z, Savage has been flying the straight and narrow lately– so it shouldn’t be too bad a case to plead. TMZ reports that the rapper has been actively trying to situate his visa status for some time now. In 2017, 21 reapplied for his U visa, after having a pending visa for four years.
