Jay-Z and Meek Mill’s ‘REFORM Alliance’ is sending 100,000 masks to prison facilities across the country to help healthcare workers, correctional officers, and inmates in multiple states.
The organization took to Instagram to announce their donation. “Thank you to @meekmill, @shakasenghor, & everyone who helped us get 100k masks into prisons,” REFORM posted. “These masks will help protect incarcerated people & correctional staff in #Rikers, the Tennessee DOC, and #ParchmanPrison from #COVID19.”

Sources from CBS News say that the REFORM Alliance will be sending 40,000 masks to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, 5,000 masks to Parchman, a Mississippi State Penitentiary, 50,000 to Rikers Island, and another 2,500 to a Rikers medical facility. The organization has said that correctional facilities have been heavily impacted by this coronavirus pandemic as they the world faces shortage of protective gear and medical equipment.
This act joins the list of actions taken and donations being given celebrities, organizations, and businesses to help combat the coronavirus that has taken over the lives of the world. Hopefully we will continue to see more step up to help those around them.
