The new Batwoman is Black, and her name is Javicia Leslie.
Fans of the CW hit show have to wait no more as they now know that Javicia Leslie will play the new Batwoman. Leslie is replacing Ruby Rose, who left the show after just one season.
“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.”

The 33-year-old actress is no stranger to television, as she is a regular on the CBS show God Friended Me. Furthermore, She will play the character, Ryan Wilder, in the upcoming season of Batwoman.
Wilder will be the person taking over the “Bat” mantle after Rose’s character Kate Kane was written off the show. However, fans will notice that the characters and their backstories are quite different.
One article describes Wilder as “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed” but also comes from a rough background. The CW has done a fantastic job in allowing it’s shows to be an actual representation of people in society.
Fans online have shown a positive response to the news of Black Batwoman, especially with the social climate right now.
Everyone: I’m not sure if I’ll even give season 2 a try.
