Is Tennessee Titans Star QB Ryan Tannehill A Great Leader?

The Tennesse Titans star QB Ryan Tannehill shocks many with his latest response regarding rookie QB Malik Willis, reported Turron Davenport for ESPN. Tannehill has been on the trading block especially after losing to Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round, 19-16. While the Titans’ defense came to play, Ryan Tannehill disappointed many Titan fans by throwing three interceptions in that game.

Tannehill openly admits he sought therapy after taking as much scrutiny as he did for underperforming. He’s finally in a place to put the game in his past and learn from his mistakes. Many are hopeful that Brooklyn Nets PG Ben Simmons can do the same, nonetheless, Tannehill was able to look himself in the mirror and realize that he wasn’t okay.

“It’s a painful memory,” Tannehill expressed about the loss. “Every time I closed my eyes, I kept replaying the game. I struggled to sleep for weeks. I felt down, but with time and effort, I managed to overcome it.”

“I went through it, and therapy, conversations, and time were helpful. It required significant effort to overcome.”

    Ryan Tannehill’s Mental Health

As aforementioned, Tannehill battled severe mental health issues after the playoff debacle. However, he moved past it and began to engage himself with the team and facilities. He’s beginning to start the process of moving forward and truly helping contribute to this team. Sadly, Tannehill realizes that this was the first time he felt he needed help because he couldn’t function properly.

“This is the first time that I absolutely needed it [therapy] to pull me out of a dark space,” Tannehill said.

Taking this into consideration, the dealing of abandonment and lost maybe played a factor in his latest comments regarding Malik Willis. He may have felt the team and coaches had given up on him. After the game, many rumors began to surface to go after the biggest FA this offseason Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers.

Naturally, this has fueled and motivated Tannehill more than ever. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get back on the field and prove doubters wrong.

“I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him,” Tannehill said. “But if he learns from me along the way, that’s a great thing.”

Seemingly, Ryan Tannehill is a bit frustrated with the organization for not notifying him about taking Willis in the third round of this year’s draft. Therefore, his frustration from being blindsided may result in disrespect or frustration amongst the possible competition.

Hall of Famer Kurt Warner was so upset by this mindset he offered his opinions on the matter as well, via Twitter.

“I don’t understand the mindset of not wanting to mentor the next person. So, to all the young quarterbacks who need a mentor, send me a direct message, and I’ll gladly be that person. I’m happy to assist you in any way I can!”

    Tannehill and Titans Miscommunication

He was also unaware of plans to trade his star WR A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. Tannehill was so hurt that it affected his sleep. He emphasized that it felt as if he was losing one of his closest friends.

“I was really surprised. When I first heard, I was like, ‘This can’t be true, it can’t be happening, it’s just a rumor,'” said Tannehill about the Brown trade. “And then, I talked to A.J. and found out it was real. I had a really rough night’s sleep and couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all just a horrible dream, but unfortunately, that’s the reality we’re facing now.
