New England Patriots Mac Jones’ Achievement
New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones was named to the 2022 Pro Bowl this upcoming Sunday. He’s one of five rookies to make a Pro Bowl in franchise history. Due to the opt-outs by other quarterbacks, it gave Jones an opportunity to suit up and play in one of the most entertaining games of the year.
This is a huge way to end the year off by Jones. Especially, having such a successful rookie season that saw him taken in the draft 15th overall. He later seized the New England Patriots quarterback position from veteran Cam Newton. As the season played itself out, Jones managed to lead the Patriots back to the playoffs with a 10-7 record. Jones threw 22 touchdowns, 3,801 passing yards, and completed 67.7% of his passes. Jones was a key piece in helping Patriots head coach Bill Belichick rebuild this team. Not to mention, the plethora of free agents the Patriots signed to help assist Jones in the passing game.
The Best Rookie Class
According to PFF, Jones was part of the best rookie class in the NFL. Mac Jones also made an All-Rookie team alongside teammate Christian Barmore. Although they suffered a disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The Pro Bowl will give Patriots fans one more chance to see their new quarterback play and provide something to cheer for. It’ll be unique to see how Jones performs with some of the best talents in the league. It can be a bigger picture view if the Patriots continue to bring pieces around him to assure his success.
One would agree that the experience will serve Jones well. As the offseason rapidly approaches, many sit back and wonder in what direction will the Patriots take in this year’s draft and free agency.
