One Illinois man had a change of heart, which led to his wife dying.
On February 9, Eric Huska, 58, and his wife, Laura Huska, 57, were allegedly having a fun day of drinking, as they relaxed in their backyard’s hot tub. It isn’t until the couple attempts to get out of the hot tub that things take an unexpected turn.
According to police, the couple’s video surveillance shows the couple trying to climb out of the water, but Laura, apparently having a difficult time. At first, the video shows Eric trying to help his wife, but later shows him changing his mind. Instead of trying to pull her up, he steps away and closes the hot tub lid, before going inside their home.
BuzzFeed News reports that it took the man approximately 90 minutes before he returned to the backyard. In that time, he arrived to find his wife floating dead.
After calling the paramedics, Laura Huska was taken to a nearby hospital. Upon asking what happened, Deputy Chief Todd Wolff summed up the tragic Saturday event.
“Unfortunately the woman died. Alcohol and hot tubs don’t mix.”
Following the incident, the Illinois man was arrested. However, he’s posted his $10,000 personal recognizance, and walks free, until his next court appearance. He’s set to appear in court on Thursday.
