The How High sequel was confirmed in September via MTV. Unfortunately for fans of the original, the upcoming made-for-TV sequel won’t be following Method Man and Redman’s iconic characters from the original. In fact, Lil Yacthy and DC Young FLy have landed the leading roles. And some fans, aren’t happy about the new cast.
As such, fans have already taken it upon themselves to launch a petition to get the two in the film. With over 2,000 signatures currently, it is highly unlikely that MTV will even notice the petition which calls the original star’s absence from the sequel “a travesty and an injustice.”
But unfortunately, filming has already begun for the sequel, so it remains unlikely that the two will be able to film a cameo before production wraps. The new movie will star Yachty and DC Young Fly, with Lil Baby, Alyssa Goss, DeRay Davis, Mary Lyn Rajskub, NeNe Leakes, Tiny Harris, Cynthia Bailey, and Shekinah Jo also making appearances.

A New Self-Lubricating Condom Could Make Your Sex Life Skyrocket
Let’s face it, most people hate condoms, because there’s a lack of sensation when wearing one.
That’s why a team of scientists designed a self-lubricating condom that reduces friction and increases pleasure. The condoms were invented as past of the Bill and Melinda Foundation competition. Scientists were offered $100,000 if they could design a condom for the “next generation.” As part of the competition, scientists had to develop a rubber that would make more people want to use them. Currently, only one third of men in the U.S. participate in safe sex. There were nearly 2.3 million STDs reported in the United States last year. With sexually transmitted infections on the rise, the need to strap up never seemed so important.
The winning condom creates it’s own moisture, and can withstand up to 1,000 thrusts. That equals out to roughly 16 minutes of uninterrupted sex. It was tested by 33 participants, who used their hands to feel for the difference between three types of material. There were non-lubricated condoms, lubricated condoms, and the experimental condom. Reports showed that 73 percent of people preferred the newly designed one.
How does it work?
The lubricated layer is coated in hydrophilic polymers. This causes the condom to become more wet when met with moisture. Scientists hope that this will increase safe sex practices, while making sex more enjoyable.
The new condoms haven’t been tested in the actual bedroom yet, but the scientists hope to get their product in stores within two years. If successful, sales will start in Southeast Asia.
The Late Show: Showcasing Young and Untapped Potential
Typically, when underground rap scenes are discussed, cities like New York City and Chicago are the focus of the dialogue. However, Philadelphia is a city that deserves the same recognition. Philly has some of the most creative rappers in the country. “The Late Show” that Hypefresh Magazine covered proves that.
Hosted by Michael Humphrey, “The Late Show” premiered at Bourbon and Branch in the Northern Liberties section of the city. The turnout was pretty good, with artists being their friends and managers. Everyone congregated either around the bar or on the dance floor, as they talked and got to know each other. It made the show as much of a social event as a music concert, which got rid of any tension in the room and brought a relaxed vibe.
The performances got started once all the artists were ready. There was not a bad performance throughout the show. Every artist knew how to interact with the crowd and keep them engaged while they ran through their set. Not only that, but their music was actually good.
There are a few performances that stood out amongst the other ones. One of them was by Dolce Dev. Dev ran through a few of his better-known songs, that the crowd loved. On stage, he made every part of his performance entertaining. His energy was infectious as it spread the crowd and caused them to move along. Dev kept the crowd pumped up throughout his time on stage and left them wanting more.
The next performance deserves to be highlighted was by Cesar and Ren, who make up the group 4VR. The duo performed some of the old tracks as well as one that they had just finished production on that day. Cesar is very extroverted while Ren is an introvert. On stage, their personalities complimented each other, while they moved in sync with each other. Another thing that stood out about them was their music. 4VR performed RNB music, as opposed to the hardcore rap of the other performance, with a lot of influence by early 2000’s soul music. It was refreshing to hear some light melodies, after listening to the bars of the previous performers.
If you enjoyed this recap of “The Late Show” be sure to keep following Hypefresh, as we will be covering more shows like this. “The Late Show” will be coming back soon and for more info on it, follow Michael Humphrey on Instagram.
