Henry Cavill, who is currently in the brilliant Mission: Impossible Fallout, along with Tom Cruise, is apparently done with the whole Superman thing.
According to “reliable” news sources, Henry Cavill is putting away his Superman cape due to scheduling conflicts with the projected film ‘Shazam” starring Zachary Levi.
“Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors,” a studio source told The Hollywood Reporter, and we could not have agreed more. But on the contrary, the constant replacing of characters does reintroduce the viewers and many feel the emotional connection is lost in an effort to revive the franchise.
Cavill has appeared as Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Back in 2013, Cavill stated the following.
I don’t think there’s an intimidation to it as such,” he told Collider at the time. “Certainly if I really thought about it and concentrated, there’s been a couple of phases where people have said, they’ve been explaining to me all the Superman cookies and the ice creams and I saw Organic Kryptonite next to an Organic Corn sign on the way down here. There was a second where I went, ‘Wow, this is massive.’ You gotta ignore that and not let it get to you. Otherwise, you’ll be focusing so much on the pressure as opposed to actually dealing with the important thing which is doing justice to the character.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is slated to focus on a Supergirl movie as Cavill recently signed on a new Netflix show “The Witcher.”
In other news, Warner Bros. is considering Michael B. Jordan to play Superman. How’s that for a plot twist.
