Everyone knows that Jamal Lyon, played by Jussie Smollett on Empire, is one of the nicer brothers out of the Lyon clan. But what people probably didn’t know is that Jamal’s character traits extend off the screen and into real life too.
Smollett recently got into the spirit of the holidays, and used some of his hard-earned cash to help crack a few smiles. The star of Empire is donating proceeds from his latest album, Sum of my Music, to help various charities in need.
Smollett donated $125,000 to charities such as the Black AIDS Institute, Flint KIDS, South Africa’s SKY Foundation, the Trayvon Martin Foundation, the Human Rights Campaign, Know Your Rights Camp, ACLU and the Anthony Burrell Dance School.
Kudos to Smollett!
