Fred, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, played drums on eight Earth, Wind & Fire albums, contributing to their greatest hits such as “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Saturday Night,” and “Shining Star.”

Verdine remembers his late brother as a “kid protégé” and a “wonderful and gifted family member.” He continued, In heaven, Fred is currently with their other brother and the founder of the EWF, Maurice White.

Off-stage, according to Verdine, Fred “the great brother who was constantly amusing and charmingly cheeky! And we could always rely on him to inject humor into a dire circumstance!”
