DJ Khaled is more than just the best…he’s a true friend.
Khaled is preparing for the release of his 11th studio album, Father of Asahd, which will be releasing on Friday. His newest album will feature a track called “Higher,” which includes the talents of John Legend and Nipsey Hussle.
On Wednesday, Khaled announced that instead of pocketing the money himself or giving portions of it away to others, that he and his team found a greater purpose for the proceeds. Via Instagram, Khaled shared that the proceeds would be going directly to Hussle’s two children, Emani and Kross Asghedom.
“Recently, I embarked on a soul-searching journey down a road I never thought I would travel in a million years. It began when a tragedy robbed the world of an enlightened soul, a brother, a father, a partner and my friend, Nipsey Hussle.”
“Just days prior, he shared his energy and positivity with me on a video set for a song called “Higher.” After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with the world.”
Hussle was gunned down in his hometown of Los Angeles. He was 34-years-old and loved by his community.
Khaled adds that he’ll be releasing the visual for “Higher” with permission from the Asghedom family. He hopes the world will gain good energy and positivity, just as he did during his time on set with Hussle.
