Superstar DJ and producer DI MARTINELLI shower us with his ever-refreshing mix of melodic vocals and well-produced instrumentation. Recently he released an appealing hit single titled “The Cycle,” which showcases his capability to combine different genres to make an outstanding track. Just as the title indicates, “The Cycle,” he puts us on a loop with his moody, chill, and atmospheric feel attached to reverberating vocals.
DI MARTINELLI had a conversation with us and answered our distinctive 8 Questions. Check it out below.
HYPEFRESH: So tell us, how did it all begin? What encouraged you to start playing and making music?
DI MARTINELLI: Being an 80s kid, I gorged on everything I could find in my dad’s record collection. The 1989 released Prince soundtrack from Tim Burton’s Batman blew me away at that time. The Future inspired me to create my first single, You Could Be My Lover, in 2014.
HYPEFRESH: Talk me through your creative process when you write new music.
DI MARTINELLI: I constantly make short ideas and melodies, putting them in a folder on my desktop. At times, I open this folder late at night and listen to the bounces I have made. If something gets me at that point, I start working on it until morning and finish it in one go.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “The Cycle”?
DI MARTINELLI: The Cycle consists of a moody start, which quickly builds up to a fast-paced pulse. The lyrics and beats work together to underline the track’s message: everything moves in cycles. The words, the musical themes, and everything in life—leaving no winners or losers in the end. Everything keeps on returning.
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
DI MARTINELLI: To strike a chord. Music is always by our side, through good and bad things. I want to convey emotions by bringing melodies and sounds together. That creative process is exhilarating.
HYPEFRESH: What projects do you have coming up? Can you give us any info on them?
DI MARTINELLI: I’m finishing my new single titled ‘Go,’ which is up for release at the beginning of 2023. It will get you dancing, and you’ll show moves you didn’t know you had. I have always admired the track ‘Go’ from Moby – read: the energy – so that was my main inspiration for this one.
HYPEFRESH: Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to enter the game of music?
DI MARTINELLI: Trial and error. Always. The best advice I could give, which helped me a lot, is to deconstruct the tracks you like and start remaking them.
HYPEFRESH: How do you solve productivity/scheduling problems and reduce overwhelming situations?
DI MARTINELLI: When I’m blocked or stressed, I wear my running shoes and go out to clear my head.
