DC Comics is Discontinuing the DC Extended Universe

This is why it’s important to stay in your lane.

DC Extended Universe is realizing that there dreams of uniting their superheroes on one screen, isn’t panning out the way they visioned. With that in mind, you can expect to no longer see movies where your favorite DC characters interact. According to HNHH, the comic book company is returning to much simpler times.

Starting very soon, DC will only be focusing on stand-alone films. This means that characters will act alone in their respective worlds and movies, without other comic book characters joining them on their adventures. The CEO of Warner Bros, Kevin Tsujihara, says that the new initiative is the best idea for the moment.

“We have the right people in the right jobs working on it. The universe isn’t as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago.”

The push for the new idea comes after a few box office fails– particularly with Justice League and Batman V. Superman. The other issue is that their competition is doing the job far better than they are. Apparently, Marvel does a better job of bringing their characters together in one film. Take for instance Avengers: Infinity War, which blew every movie produced by DC Extended Universe out of the water.

However, Tsujihara says the future is still bright.

That’s not to say we won’t at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that’s the right strategy for us right now.”
