David Beckham has had his license suspended for a six-month period for using his mobile phone while driving in London.
Beckham appeared at the Bromley Magistrates Court, where the punishment was handed down to him. He also received six additional points to his license for the incident, which happened last year on November 21. Beckham is said to have been driving on Great Portland Street in the West End, when someone took a photo of him in his car. The photo allegedly shows Beckham behind the wheel of his Bentley, using his phone as it rests at knee-level.
Last year, in January, the former soccer star faced accusations of driving over the speed limit. Though when he appeared to court in September, he found himself excused from any penalties, due to the quick thinking of his lawyer, Nick Freeman.
However, the courts did not take it so easy on him this time. While in court prosecutor Matthew Spratt said, “Instead of looking straight forward, paying attention to the road he appeared to be looking at his lap.”
Along with not being able to drive for six-months, Beckham also has to pay a $1,100 fine.
