Constance Wu and Gemma Chan are both in the hot seat after some Twitter faux pas.
Over the weekend, Constance Wu was called out for apparently being a “rude,” “petty,” and “mean spirited” individual. Wu is most known for her humble lead role in Crazy Rich Asians, which also starred Gemma Chan. Though recently, Wu’s actions have come across as anything but humbling or grateful.
Here’s the story.
Wu allegedly complained about Fresh Off the Boat, which she stars in, being renewed for a sixth season. In response to the news, which circulated on Twitter, she apparently commented “f–king hell,” reports Page Six. To some, it seemed as if she was bashing her very own show. It prompted one Twitter user to write, “3. Constance Wu’s conduct today comes as no surprise to anyone who has worked with her in recent years.”
Following that tweet, Chan hit the hit like button, which caused people to think she was in agreement.
As it turns out though, both ladies say their actions were misinterpreted. Wu claims she was just upset that she now has to give up extra work in order to remain a cast member for FOTB. She clarified by saying, “I was temporarily upset yesterday not [because] I hate the show but [because] its renewal meant I had to give up another project that I was really passionate about.”
Chan, on the other hand, claims she hit the “like” button by mistake– just as many of us do. “Just to clarify – it was an accidental ‘like’. Anyone looking for drama or beef, sorry to disappoint,” she said.
So, it looks like there’s no drama here.
