Christos Releases Single About Mental Health Issues “Don’t Hold Back”

Christos is a rapid-rising Brisbane-based rapper. Recently he released a relatable heartwarming single called “Don’t Hold Back.”

“Don’t Hold Back” taps into Christos’s deep emotion as he puts his heart on the line to create more and more awareness of the current mental health issues everyone faces in today’s society. The song encourages people not to hold back their feeling; instead, they should adapt to speaking out to people about how they genuinely feel on the inside.

Containing an endearing narrative, heartfelt lyrics, and a harmonious flow/delivery, Christos shows us that he is not just here for fun but to make an impact on the world as he continues to proliferate.

Christos had a conversation with us and answered our distinctive 8 Questions. Check it out below.

HYPEFRESH: So tell us, how did it all begin? What encouraged you to start playing and making music?

Christos: I’ve been around music my whole life and was first exposed to it very young. My Mother used to sing at a big church group when I was two years old, so I’d always be there for her rehearsals and live performances. She’d even bring me on stage sometimes.

Growing up, I listened to many different bands/artists and always had a very musical ear. I was always fascinated by making my music, so it was only a matter of time.

HYPEFRESH: Talk me through your creative process when you write new music.

Christos: For me, it’s all off the feeling. I can listen to 100 beats and not get ‘that feeling’ for any of them, or I could listen to just one beat and instantly know I wanna turn it into something. If I’m already vibing with it, I’ll have a melody, freestyle melodies, and punch-in lyrics.

There’s no physical writing on paper whatsoever with my process. It’s all off the top of my head. It’s the quickest and most efficient way and doesn’t slow me down when I’m finding my rhythm.

HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, Don’t Hold Back?

Christos: This one’s special to me. I’m usually bad at describing my songs because I don’t always have a set theme – It’s typically whatever I feel then, but this one is different. I have a message with this song: to spread awareness of some of the mental health issues we’re facing today and to encourage people to speak out when faced with problems and hardships in life.

Being a person who always bottles things up and finds it hard to let their feelings out, I wanted to make others who are the same feel understood. You never really know what someone is going through or has gone through. It’s important to feel heard and cared for, so always check on the people close to you.

HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?

Christos: I love when people come up to me or message me and tell me how my music has impacted them or made them feel. There’s no beating that feeling of hearing that a song you made inside your room has done something significant to someone else’s life. At my last show, I had a guy tell me he had to walk out of the room for a minute because he was tearing up, and honestly, the feeling that my music evoked that emotion and this guy could relate so much made me so happy.

HYPEFRESH: What projects do you have coming up? Can you give us any info on them?

Christos: Right now, I will be as consistent as I can be, which means more singles for the remainder of this year and continuing into next year. I’ll have some more significant projects for next year, which are already in the works, but I’ll keep that on the DL for now. Just expect to hear many more different styles, but if you’re a fan of my music, you should expect that because no Christos releases are the same.

HYPEFRESH: Do you have any advice for our readers trying to enter the game of music?

Christos: Make music for you. Don’t make what you think other people wanna hear or what’s gonna make you ‘blow up, do what feels right for you. That’s how you’ll create your best art and gain true fans.

HYPEFRESH: How do you solve productivity/scheduling problems and reduce overwhelming situations?

Christos: It’s always a super tricky thing because I work a 9-5 job and have this separate career in music. I don’t have a team or anything at the moment. It’s just me, so I often feel overwhelmed, but balance is critical. I always do my best to spend all the free time I have on music, whether that’s the creative side or the marketing side of things. Having set days and booking time to record etc., makes this a lot easier, and following a plan helps.

HYPEFRESH: Name Three things you can’t live without when recording in the studio.

    Christos:

    Water

LED Lights (they got to be blue or purple to set the vibes)

I don’t have a 3rd thing. All I need is for my vocals to be at their A-game.
