The Remix Is Currently Featured only on Amazon Music’s Ladies First Playlist
Alabama-bred, LA-based rapper/singer/poet and activist Chika released a brand-new, piano version of her track “On My Way” only on Amazon Music. Mark Batson is the producer of Chika’s new track “On My Way”. The track reimagines Chika’s original version, stripping the track down to just her voice and a piano. Fans can currently hear this song on Ladies First. Ladies First is Amazon Music’s playlist highlighting the fearless women that shattered gender barriers in the world of hip-hop.
“I’m glad y’all get to hear a stripped down version of this song,” … “I would like to thank Mark Batson for making it extra special.”- Chika
This track is a part of series of brand-new Amazon Originals by women artists for #IWD2020 and Women’s History Month.
Chika’s Amazon Original follows last week’s release of her debut EP, Industry Games. The EP spans seven invigorating and expertly crafted melodic tracks. Industry Games paints a vivid picture of Chika’s self-made success, trials and aspirations via deft wordplay and a rapid-fire flow over hard-hitting beats. The project showcases why she’s inspired widespread acclaim. She is one of today’s most influential young voices in the music industry.
Chika paved the way for the project with lyrical fireworks and a “take no prisoners” attitude on the title track “Industry Games,” which garnered unanimous tastemaker acclaim. Rolling Stone declared it “hard-hitting,” and Billboard referred to it as “a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it track where [Chika] re-establishes herself as the MC to beat with blunt lyrics and expert delivery” while proclaiming “[Chika as] one of the most honest stars in music.”
Chika actively uses her platform to advocate inclusivity and challenge societal norms regarding race, gender, mental health and body image. She opted to kickstart her career on the mic instead of enrolling in Berklee College of Music. The risk paid off. After starring as the face of Calvin Klein’s #MyCalvin campaign, she introduced a scorching signature style on her 2019 independent debut single “No Squares.” Cardi B championed her and Lena Waithe welcomed her to perform on “Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!”. Waithe and director SH00TER also joined forces with her for the video “High Rises,” filmed in Alabama. She’s since amassed a celebrity fanbase consisting of Erykah Badu, Lin Manuel, Diddy, Jay-Z, and more. Chika has garnered widespread acclaim from Billboard, TIME, Out Magazine, Newsweek, i-D, V Magazine, them., Essence, C.R. Fashion Book and Teen Vogue — of which she graced the cover.
Customers can also simply ask, “Alexa play the new song by Chika” in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the new track, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
