For a generation increasingly focused on achieving an individual sense of greater purpose, and communicating this to the world around- emerging London based label C.A.N.G (Conceptual Aesthetic Neutral Garments) releases its’ second collection: RISE.
The unisex mixture of ready to wear garments ranges from black cotton interlock graphic jersey t shirts, white moleskin trimmed cotton shirts, red nylon rain jackets, cotton sweatshirts and hoodies, lamb skin leather jackets and more. Lackadaisical interpretations of brutalist designs, and a soft touch of quiet charisma form a distinctive visual identity for the RISE collection.
Continuing C.A.N.G’s narrative based brand ethos, the clothes in RISE express a confluence of the journey toward personal fulfilment – black and white colour schemes and tough animal skins show the struggles. A varied heritage of fabrics and stylistic finishes: oversized sleeves on cotton twill shirts trimmed with moleskin, a lamb skin jacket trimmed with pony hair, goat skin suede jackets with white lamb nappa trimmings and a detachable felt wool banner finished with brand logo- show the quirks and opportunities for expression. Loose street wear silhouettes route the story in wider youth movements.
Having had a passion for design and creative expression throughout his life, South London based designer Jermaine Nwankwo launched C.A.N.G (Conceptual Aesthetic Neutral Garments) in January 2017, with the wish to create a conscious fashion label – one that embodies the different elements of being human. The collection was released alongside a fashion film- showing a young man writing his dreams on paper planes and throwing them at a wall, before going outside and overcoming obstacles to reveal a greater sense of fulfilment.
Jermaine Nwankwo notes to think of C.A.N.G as a book, with many chapters (collections), telling a series of stories, these stories intertwine – each telling a chapter on the journey for life.
