Buttigieg Is Not The First Gay President Candidate

Pete Buttigieg is certain that the US has had a gay President despite the current pride rallies.

If you live under some sort of rock, then you would totally understand my argument. But the seemingly popular and openly gay Mayor of  Indiana, Pete Buttigieg is often cited as the first potentially gay US President. But according to his claims, he is not the first.

In a recent interview with Axios on HBO, the IN Mayor and Democratic Presidential Candidate made a bold statement about previous Presidents in US history. And thanks to our friends at Queerty, we were able to get the tea!

“People will elect the person who will make the best president,” Buttigieg said. “And we have had excellent presidents who have been young. We have had excellent presidents who have been liberal. I would imagine we’ve probably had excellent presidents who were gay—we just didn’t know which ones.”

But when asked about which Presidents he believed were gay, he suddenly changed his narrative.

He responded, “My gaydar doesn’t even work that well in the present, let alone retroactively,”

Hmm, seems strange to us, but if you look closer it makes sense. At 37, the Afghanistan war veteran has come under immense fire from Republicans for both his age and sexuality.

However, there have been rumors circulating around both Abraham Lincoln and James Buchanan. For a while, many believed that 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate Cory Booker was gay. What do you think? What other Presidents might have been closeted? And is Pete Buttigieg lying about his supposed gaydar?
