BLM Protestor Dies After Being Hit by Car

    BLM Protestors Struck by Car

Two people were struck by a car while protesting for BLM in Seattle this past weekend. One of the two women injured, Summer Taylor, unfortunately, has passed away. Whereas the other women involved in the incident, Diaz Love, was hospitalized and is in serious condition.

    Details of the Event

After the murder of George Floyd by police officers on May 25th there have been BLM protests occurring all throughout the nation. On July 4th a small group of Black Lives Matter protestors came together on the interstate, which had been blocked off by authorities.

Not long after the group gathered a man broke through the barrier created by the authorities and drove into the crowd of protestors at a high speed. Cops identified the man as Dawit Kelete. So far there has been no report of Kelete’s motives, although it was proven that he was not under the influence of any substances.

Is strikes me as unlikely that this incident was an accident because Kelete clearly drove around marked barriers. Hopefully, the event is not connected to the motives involved at the anti-fascist rally incident back in 2017. No matter the reasoning this is a sad sight to see.

It’s unfortunate to see positive efforts of protesting ending up like this. Hopefully, things will be safer in the future and that was just a one-time thing. One must not forget the women injured in the event though, Diaz Love and Summer Taylor, and what they were fighting for.

    Final Thoughts

Summer Taylor was known for her work in a veterinary clinic and her involvement with supporting all types of people in her community. There has been a Go Fund Me created for Summer, in an effort to help cover the medical expenses.

What are your guys’ thoughts though?

Do you believe that this was simply an accident or something more similar to what took place in Charlottesville?
