The jaw-dropping interview between Megan Markle and Oprah Winfrey has sent the internet into a frenzy. As many of you are aware, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry sat down and dropped a bombshell.
Many of Meghan’s friend came to her defense including tennis player, Serena Willams who penned a message to the royal via social media. She expressed her compassion and gratitude for Markle’s Bravery.
“I am so proud of you for being brave, I know it’s never easy. You are strong-both you and Harry. I love you.”
Other celebrities also showed their support including; Black is King singer, Beyonce Knowles. “Thank you, Meghan, for being brave and a true leader. Your strength and inspiration are appreciated by all of us.”
However, some were not pleased with her interview. Reality TV star, Bethenny Frankel took to Twitter to share her frustrations.
“Cry me a river. The plight of being a fairly unknown actress to suffering in a Palace with 7 figure weddings…”
This week the Buckingham Palace released a statement in response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview. The family is saddened to know the difficulties Harry and Meghan faced in the last few years. The concerns raised, especially about race, are troubling. To read the full statement click here.
Other members of the royal family have yet to comment. However, On Monday, March 8th Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla were seen visiting a National Health Service vaccine site in Britain. Ironically, the two were photographed with mainly black staff and attendees. Many believe this too be a poorly-timed publicity stunt to prove that the Royal family is not racist.
