Ben Carson Said President Obama Was “Raised White” So He Can’t Relate To Black Americans

African-American Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is trying hard to stay in the presidential race.

During an interview with Politico’s Glenn Thrush, Carson stated that he was proud of President Obama for breaking the color barrier, but still didn’t feel Obama was a good pick for president.

“I grew up in Detroit, and I grew up in Boston. In Boston, we lived in the ghetto. There were a lot of violent episodes there. There were rats, there were roaches. It was dire poverty,” Carson said, speaking of his mother who worked around-the-clock but refused to accept welfare. “Now, let me contrast that to the President, who went to private schools, grew up in a relatively affluent environment, had an opportunity to live in multiple cultures and different countries. I think that’s a very different experience.”

“[Obama] was, you know, raised white,” Carson told Thrush this week. “did not” experience much joy upon Obama’s election in 2008. “Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia. So, for him to, you know, claim that, you know, he identifies with the experience of black Americans, I think, is a bit of a stretch.”

Carson also added his own thoughts on his own presidential campaign run. “I don’t have any immediate plans of cessation,” Carson said. “My plans are that we will continue to rise in the national polls and that we will become very, very competitive and that we will do extraordinarily well in the end.”
