    Beanie Sigel Says Jay-Z’s “Fiesta” Diss Sparked the Beef Between Roc-A-Fella Records and The Lox

    What started out as a friendly rivalry turned into one of the most spirited battles ever.

    The LOX (then D-Block) and Beanie Sigel were rivals in the late 90s and early 2000s, each with their own unique style of hip hop. The battle between them was a heady combination of wit, bravado and skill.

    There are countless examples of great rappers from Jay-Z to 50 Cent who have put their differences aside after years of acrimony. The best part of these battles is that the MCs involved have gone on to make a name for themselves in the industry and their legacy lives on to this day.

    In a recent episode of Rap Radar, the trio of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch detail the origins of their infamous beef with the Roc-A-Fella act, while also discussing some of the highlights of their storied careers. In particular, they discuss the ‘Boom Moovie’ hat trick, which was the release of two albums simultaneously.

    It’s no secret that Hip Hop has always had a strong history of beef and rivalry. Some of the most defining moments in rap history have come from feuds, be they between DMX and Nas or Snoop Dogg and Biggie Smalls.

    Fortunately, the majority of these clashes have been resolved and are now fondly recalled by hip hop enthusiasts as the good ol’ days. In fact, there is a song that has been deemed the most notable of all time by rap historians, ‘I’m the King,’ which was recorded in 2001 by LL Cool J.
    While he may not have been the biggest star in a given year, the most important thing for a MC to accomplish was to have the right song to sell. Achieving this milestone was far from effortless, yet through a blend of ingenuity and fortunate circumstances, the anthem of the decade inevitably emerged.
