In the midst of all this chaos that the corona virus is causing, it is always a treat when there is actually some good news to report. And such a report is when justice is properly served. The Netflix Series “When The See Us” tells the story of the Central Park 5 and how they were wrongfully incarcerated for a crime that they did not commit. When this story reached mainstream media via Netflix, The whole world was able to see. They saw the victims, and the people that created this situation. And the lawsuits followed soon after, but not from who you would expect.
One such lawsuit was filed by prosecutor Linda Fairstien against Ava DuVernay and Netflix just a few weeks ago. At the time this all happened Fairsties was the head of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Sex Crimes Unit. All cases that went on while she was in the office she knew about, Including the Central Park 5. Because of this, she has a part in the docuseries and is suing for defamation based on how she was portrayed in the series. Fairstien felt as though she was depicted ” as a racist, unethical villain who is determined to jail innocent children of color at any cost.” Well, karma works in mysterious ways and Fairstien lost the Lawsuit. It wasn’t that hard of a decision to be make. This is happens when you don’t properly do you job.
