Aretha Franklin is one of the most iconic and celebrated singers and entertainers in music. Her passing to advanced pancreatic cancer is a reminder that we must continue to celebrate our legends while they are alive.

Franklin died at 9:50 a.m at her home in Detroit surrounded by family and friends, according to a statement from long-term publicist Gwendolyn Quinn.

According to Franklin’s family, this loss is not geared towards an entertainer, but towards a loved one.

In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins knew no bounds.

With over 100 singles in the Billboard charts, 18 Grammy awards and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as the first women to receive the award, her illustrious career was nothing short of iconic, which is why we must continue to show our admiration for the remaining living legends of our time.

The world has truly lost one of its icons. From the Hypefresh team, R.I.P Queen Aretha Franklin.
