On Monday, December 14th Apple Music hosted their second annual Apple Music Awards. The show honored some of the most recognized talents for this year.
“Savage” rapper, Megan Thee Stallion Kicked off the show, with an amazing performance of her hit song Realer. She followed up a series of encore performances including her latest single, “Girls in the Hood.” The rapper received the award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the ceremony.
After her performance, she spoke to ET Canada saying that she was excited to win in that category. ” This is a really big accomplishment for me. Apple Music has been rocking with me for so long. I am just very appreciative and very grateful.” She concluded by thanking her fans for rocking with her and supporting her through her ups and down.
Megan wasn’t the only winner of the night. Lil Baby took home “Global Artists of the Year” alongside Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch who were also honored.
For many that are unfamiliar with the award show, the Apple music Awards recognize artists for their influence on global culture. The Apple Music Awards recognize specific accolades in music in five key subject areas. Winners are chosen through an inclusive process that includes getting feedback from fans all over the world and insight from Apple Music’s board.
Among many other celebrities, Lizzo and Billie Eilish were recognized.
