We’ve been following North London songstress AMA LOU for quite some time. From her poignant lyrical delivery in the form of “TBC” to her enigmatic visual for “Not Always,” her distinctive and unique style posits her as an unparalleled artist who you either understand or you don’t. Luckily for us, we get it! Her minimalistic pop aesthetic has been a catalyst for her viscerally infused discography fueled by dark, atmospheric production which has given a beacon of light to her beautifully crafted soundwave rooted in social commentary.
The 18-year-old is back at it with her latest single “Said It Already,” another bold delivery that draws inspiration from the “duality between the traditional period of the old to new.” Having received notable mentions from mega outlets such as Nylon, ID, Line Of Best Fit and THEFADER, “Said It Already” can be described as an anthem for angry young people everywhere.
When asked about “Said It Already,” AMA LOU describes it as ‘paying homage to the voice of a younger generation. ‘Said it already’ is a mock play on the tension that is created from mixed ideals that lie in gap between multiple generations and what the younger generation’s ideas and developed normalities have to play against. During the sometimes complicated transitional period of old to new and youngens being forcefully taught dated reality (told what to do) when the world has changed and having to fight for current realism. I wrote said it already in light of my own experiences and observations ;the song isn’t heavily cast in seriousness but surely does carries the ponderosity of my own belligerent humor.’
