Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Returning to her Bartending Roots

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday took shots at “silver spoon classists” who want her to go back to bartending.

She announced she planned on doing just that at an event later this week.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced on Twitter that she would be back in her district slinging drinks to “promote a national living wage.”

“To the silver spoon classists saying they’re going to “make AOC bartend again”: You’re in luck,” she wrote. “I’ll be bartending in NY-14 this week to promote a national living wage.”

“So there you have it, ya bunch of milk drinkers,” she added. “Let’s see if my margarita+mocktail game is still on point.”

Before her 2018 election victory, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender and waitress at Flats Fix, a Mexican restaurant in Union Square.

She’ll be back behind the bar and also serving tables at a Queens restaurant on Friday to raise awareness for the federal Raise the Wage Act, her spokesperson confirmed.

The event is organized by the group Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) United, which has been calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to pass the One Fair Wage Act, which would eliminate a lower minimum wage for tipped workers.
