Musicians can tell the most interesting origin stories about their stage names. While some stars have meaningful names, others don’t. During a recent interview, Lil Uzi Vert revealed that a crackhead gave him his rap moniker. Stranger things have happened. Though, fans won’t believe the reasoning behind why the rapper’s acquaintance gave him the name.
Lil Uzi Vert Tells Of The Origins of His Name
Of course, the origins of Lil Uzi Vert’s stage name provide a very interesting and yet, bizarre backstory. During a 2016 interview with VIBE, the rapper revealed that “some guy” gave him his rap moniker Lil Uzi Vert. The reason being had to do with “The Way Life Goes” artists’ rapid, rap flow. Vert, however, tried very hard not to disclose any more information on the mystery man responsible for providing him his stage name.

Though, that all changed during a Dec. 10 Instagram Live stream, when Vert revealed the man was a crackhead. Even more telling, the rapper implied that he may have known the man.
While being joined by several other streamers on the Live stream, one of them inquired, “He said you rapped fast?” Vert then responded with, “Yeah, yeah, he’s a good guy.” Clearly, him and the guy must’ve been friends on some level or another. Obviously, the “Erase Your Social” rapper thanked the crackhead for giving him his stage name.
The Rapper Wants to Look Unrecognizable
It’s pretty obvious that Uzi isn’t like most rappers. Everything from his multiple piercings, his controversial tattoos and even the origins of his name, make him a standout act. Apparently, a diamond forehead implant and an upside-down cross tattoo isn’t enough for Lil Uzi Vert. Rather, the rap star wants to push the boundaries just a bit more. Most recently, the rap star announced that he plans to work out to the point that he’s unrecognizable.
“I weigh 142. My goal is 155-ish, all muscle. In six months, we’ll do another one of these, I’ll be 155. Y’all be like, ‘Damn! It’s not the same person.’”
So far, Lil Uzi Vert already looks like a whole new man.
