In support of his upcoming installment to the popular Power universe, Raising Kanan, 50 Cent takes us back to the Southside, where it all started in the new music video to the new series’ theme song, titled, “Part of the Game.” As the new series is a period show which takes place in the 90s, the music mogul, along with NLE Choppa, relives his childhood filled with flashy cars, clothes and gold. In the new song, 50 Cent resembles his old self with mass appeal, the slick draw, street lyrics and aggressive charm. NLE delivers that signature hyperactive energy as the video shows us a first look at what’s to come in the new series. In Southside Jamaica Queens, New York, a small crew surprised locals with a pop-up video shoot for the upcoming “Power” Universe prequel series. The video captures the authentic ’90s vibe, with 50 Cent wearing a classic bucket hat and showcasing popular cars from that era.
“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is the latest addition to the “Power” Universe franchise. This prequel delves into the ’90s, exploring the early years of the iconic character Kanan Stark, originally portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the original series created by Courtney A. Kemp and Jackson.
Starring as series regulars are Mekai Curtis as the young Kanan Stark, Patina Miller as Kanan’s mother Raquel “Raq” Thomas, Omar Epps as Detective Malcolm Howard, London Brown as Marvin Thomas, Malcolm Mays as Louis “Lou-Lou” Thomas, Shanley Caswell as Detective Shannon Burke, Lovie Simone as Davina Harrison, Toby Sandeman as Symphony Bosket, Joey Bada$$ as Unique, and Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox. Recurring in the series are Quincy Brown as Crown, Ade Chike Torbert as Scrappy, Natalee Linez as Jessica Figueroa, and Annabelle Zasowski as Nicole Bingham.
