50 Cent Developing a Vice City Series Unrelated to Grand Theft Auto

Earlier this week, rapper 50 Cent started teasing Vice City on Instagram. The posts sparked excitement among GTA fans, leading many to think that he could be involved in the next GTA game.

Now, it turns out that the post was simply a teaser for a new television series. The series is being developed by Paramount+ and Lionsgate Television with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & TV division. It’s being written by Transformers: Rise of the Beasts writers Darnel Metayer and Josh Peters, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski also on board.

For a while, 50 Cent made GTA fans go wild with his posts on Instagram that appeared to be connected to Grand Theft Auto 6. This was because the images/fonts used in these teases were very evocative of Vice City, a fictional city in Rockstar’s popular video game series.

The rapper later deleted all of these posts, but fans still continued to speculate about his involvement in GTA 6. Deadline has now revealed that the project isn’t connected to the GTA franchise at all.

Instead, it’s a new Paramount+ original series. The show will follow three friends who are dishonorably discharged from the military and form a heist crew to make ends meet.

The show will be produced by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & Television company along with Lionsgate and Paramount. Writers Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters, who helped pen the screenplay for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, will also serve as executive producers. John Wick director Chad Stahelski is also involved.

    Lionsgate Television

The popular video game Grand Theft Auto has a huge fan base, but the title is not currently adapted to the big screen. That’s a shame, since the franchise is one of the most successful video games to date.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate Television and 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & Television are developing a vice city series that isn’t related to the grand theft auto vice city. Instead, the show will be an original production from seasoned vets.

According to the producers, Vice City will follow three friends who return to Miami in the mid-1980s after they’ve been dishonorably discharged from the military due to their involvement in the Iran Contra scandal. Disgraced and displaced, they unite with a mysterious Colombian immigrant to form a heist crew. Fueled by their need for American green, they traverse a violent and dangerous path in pursuit of the American dream.

    G-Unit Film & Television

When 50 Cent teased Vice City on social media, many fans assumed that he was hinting at some kind of Grand Theft Auto 6 collaboration. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case.

According to Deadline, the rapper’s production company G-Unit Film & Television is working with Lionsgate Television and Paramount+ on an original series titled Vice City. The show is based on the story of three friends dishonorably discharged from the military who return home to Miami in the mid-1980s and form a heist crew under the supervision of a mysterious Colombian immigrant.

The show is being penned by writers Darnell Metayer (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) and Josh Peters, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski serving as executive producer. While this isn’t a direct adaptation of the game, it’s certainly not dissimilar in setting and plot, so it should appeal to fans. It’s not clear if 50 Cent will star in or be involved in the series, but it sounds like an exciting project that will be worth checking out.

    John Wick director Chad Stahelski

Earlier this month, 50 Cent posted several images of Rockstar Games’ GTA Vice City on his social media accounts, and fans were excited that he was teasing something related to the video game. However, the rapper has since deleted his posts.

According to Deadline, 50 Cent’s production company G-Unit Film & Television is partnering with Lionsgate and Paramount to develop a vice city series unrelated to the “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” game. Instead, the show will follow three friends who return home from military service in the 80s and organize a heist crew.

The show will be penned by writers Darnell Metayer (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) and Josh Peters. It will also be directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick franchise).
