“You can’t afford to be depressed where I’m from,”
On the hip hop radio program “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” the New York rapper Curtis Jackson explained how he thinks depression is a luxury
“You have to take care of your financial obligations, right? So you have to go to work, get up, and do what you need to do. There are people working right now who don’t want to be there, but they have responsibilities.”
It’s a matter of survival for the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper and actor. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, grew up in the rough and tough South Jamaica Queens neighborhood.

The rapper also disclosed that he is collaborating on a new album with producer and long time friend Dr. Dre. Dre has been a part of 50 Cent’s recording process since the very beginning of his professional career, with 50’s wildly successful breakout album Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
